Pine Street African Burial Ground and Museum

The historic Pine Street African Burial Ground and Museum, located at 157 Pine Street in Kingston, New York, offers visitors an opportunity to explore one of Kingston’s most significant African American historic sites.  Historically identified as a burial ground for “slaves” and “coloreds,” the site has roots dating to the early 1600s and was officially designated by the Trustees of Kingston, NY in 1750.

Harambee Kingston NY, Inc., a nonprofit organization, holds the deed to the property and serves as steward of this historic sacred ancestral landmark. Through museum exhibits, archaeological discoveries, historical interpretation, and guided and self-guided tours, visitors can explore the history and cultural heritage of African Americans in Kingston, NY and the surrounding Hudson Valley.  Visitors can also walk, reflect, and honor the Ancestors laid to rest on the sacred grounds of the historic Pine Street African Burial Ground.

The Pine Street African Burial Ground and Museum is open to the public for Self-Guided visits. Guided Group Tours are available by appointment and are led by Harambee staff.
